Hazardous Materials Assessment, Inc., headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, was incorporated in California in 1986, and has provided Environmental Health consulting services to a wide variety of clients.
While HMA does provide a fairly broad range of services and testing capability for known chemistries, the corporation has and continues to specialize in asbestos, lead and mold related issues.
The corporation's clients have included public and private schools, hospitals, city and county governments, private industry, Federal operations such as NASA Ames Research and the U.S. Customs Service, and many small commercial firms as well as residential owners and/or buyers.
Inspections and consulting services are provided by qualified, experienced individuals. Asbestos related inspections and services are conducted by Certified Asbestos Consultant(s). Lead Paint Inspections and Hazard Screenings are conducted by Certified Inspector/Assessor(s).

Scott W. Compton : CAC, President and CEO of Hazardous Materials Assessment, Inc., an environmental consulting firm based in San Leandro, California. Mr. Compton is a Cal/OSHA certified asbestos consultant and a DHS lead certified inspector/risk assessor. Among related activities, he served on Senator Milton Marks Asbestos Advisory Committee to the California Legislature; served on the Board of Directors of the Manufacturers Association as Director of Toxics; and served as a member of Cal/OSHA Asbestos Advisory Committee during the GISO 5208 and AB2040 regulatory standards development. He has served on the Board of Directors of numerous civic organizations, including both the Chamber of Commerce and United Way. Mr. Compton's experience in Safety and Environmental Management spans over 30 years, and he has served as an instructor for the University of California asbestos courses since AHERA was first implemented in 1987.
